June 22nd – mark it down on your calendar. We are reprising last year’s successful “end of term” event – our Patio Party at Globe Bistro. For those who weren’t there last year, it's not a tasting, not the Christmas Party, not a Spring Dinner. But it is a chance to come out socialise with your fellow wine and food enthusiasts! Come and join with us for some great wine, delicious finger foods & of course witty banter.

Globe’s patio is known for its terrific ambience, redolent of the sophisticated aspects of the Caribbean (sadly, minus the azure waters!). They will be showcasing their renowned approach to Global cuisine sourced from local ingredients. Their Executive Chef Kevin McKenna worked as sous-chef under Michael Städtlander at Eigensinn Farm, and then moved to Prince Edward County to further pursue his passion for farm to table cuisine. As well as Globe, he is responsible for the cuisine at their sister establishment Earth. We will be nibbling on hors d’oeuvres such as Oysters, cold Lobster Rolls, Dungeness Crab cakes, Northern Woods Mushroom Pate, Ontario beef burgers, artisanal cheeses and desserts. The precise selection will be determined nearer the time, based on spring produce and availability. Water, tea & coffee will also be available.

To counter the summer heat, and to aid digestion, we will be pouring a selection of wines from Winetasters’ “Christmas Cellar”. We are selecting wines suitable for this occasion; while perhaps not as grand as some poured at Casa Loma, they will be equally as interesting, embracing Old and New World, familiar and unfamiliar. These will be presented in similar fashion to our successful Christmas parties. While we will only have one or two bottles of each selection there will be plenty of selections to satisfy every taste.

You should reply early as numbers will have to be limited for this event (60). As usual, members will have priority over non-members. Globe Bistro and Winetasters have worked together to come up with an amazing deal for our members. The ticket price of $70 ($78 for non-members) is all inclusive. Globe is at Danforth & Broadview which is very handy for the TTC (subway, streetcars & buses). Please do not drink and drive!
