(Feb. 2, 2015) — One of the important aspects of Winetasters is the social. We have not had a dinner for a while so we are pleased to announce that we have arranged an evening at Cafe Pleaide on Mount Pleasant, just north of Davisville and only 10 or 12 minutes walk from the Davisville subway station.
Chef Stavros Tsimicalis has been serving Mediterranean cooking to the neighbourhood for many years. It is well regarded by reviewers as a survey of social media will attest. And for many years it has been a favourite dinner retreat for your Directors after a tasting.
Stavros is a lover of wine and his restaurant features an extensive if eclectic wine list. He has fashioned a very interesting menu around wines from our cellar and some purchased for the occasion. Please see overleaf for the menu and wine pairings.
We have a great selection of wines to accompany the meal. The two white wines are Bordeaux from the excellent 2009 vintage – Chateau Olivier and Haut-Bergey. Both are highly regarded from the Pessac-Leognan area. The three reds to accompany the main course are from Santenay in Burgundy – 1990 Comme 1er Cru (A. Belland); 1993 Clos Genet (C. Giroud), and 1996 Beaurepaire (Drouhin). We start with a Pierre Spaar Brut Cremant D’Alsace and finish with 2007 Sammos Anthemis.
We are sure that with Stavros in the kitchen and the wonderful wines you will enjoy an evening of good food, great wines, and excellent company.
As always with our tastings, this event will be strictly non-smoking, and we request your cooperation in not wearing any scented after-shave or perfume.
