Join us for a luxurious wine-pairing dinner in April as the Toronto Vintners Club (TVC) celebrates 50 years of sharing exceptional wines with friends.
In 1975, wine lovers were parched and sad. Where were the things we take for granted today, such as wine agents, sommeliers, or product choices? Where did wine lovers learn about countries, regions, producers, vintages, grapes, and terroir? Perhaps the most important is how a wine lover explores, gets experience, and meets fellow enthusiasts. Enter the scene: Ted Turner, a Toronto entrepreneur who loved wine and travel. Through his journeys, he discovered a “Vintners” club in San Francisco (founded in 1971) and thought Toronto was a community ripe for that concept. That event attracted 150 people; from there, attendance grew and grew. A few years later, TVC was so large that no venue in Toronto could host its events, and the sister club that would become Winetasters (WT) was formed.
In the last 50 years, we have explored thousands of wines and fostered hundreds of new friendships within this community. This anniversary marks the shared achievements and future endeavours of both the TVC and WT in nurturing Toronto’s deep appreciation for wine.
Here’s to the next 50 years of wine adventures and friendship!
