Cost: Members of Toronto Winetasters or Toronto Vintners pay $130; non-members pay $155. There is no HST as the temporary GST/HST holiday applies. The first guest of a Toronto Winetasters Member pays $130.
The 2005 Sauternes vintage is considered one of the standout vintages of the early 21st century for this renowned sweet wine region. This vintage is celebrated for its exceptional quality, combining ripe fruit, botrytis complexity, and long-term aging potential. And, age we did. At 20 years old, come taste these excellent wines in their prime.

Your ultra-premium event this year will shine a bright spotlight on Spain’s most respected and revered producer. The wines of Vega Sicilia are cherished by enthusiasts and collectors in a manner similar to Bordeaux first growth and the fine wines of Burgundy. These are powerful wines that require years of cellaring. Thankfully, Winetasters members have access to a whole tasting of aged Vega Sicilia wines, including their marquee Unico from the 1990 vintage, which has been resting in our cellar for 3 decades.

You may recall that in 2018, we celebrated Winetasters 40th anniversary with our first ever grower-producer champagne tasting. What you probably do not remember is that Winetasters originated as a spinoff club from Toronto Vintners club. TVC started in 1975 and within 3 years was so successful that size required the formation of another club. It’s only fitting that the two clubs come together to plan a celebratory tasting that honors remarkable longevity and admirable contribution to Toronto’s wine community.

Let’s stick with the 20-year-old theme and check in on the Domaine Chanson Burgundy wines in the cellar. Founded in 1750, Domaine Chanson’s long history of making quality wines gained a boost when Bollinger, the famous champagne house, acquired the property in 1999. Your tasting will include wines from Vosne-Romanee, Volnay, Aloxe-Corton, and Beaune.

Dry White Bordeaux wines are an important and sometimes underappreciated part of Bordeaux’s winemaking tradition. These wines are typically blends dominated by Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. While these wines can be enjoyed young, they really shine after 5 or more years in the cellar. This resting time allows the zesty fruit flavors provided by the Sauvignon Blanc component to settle and the weight of the Sémillon to mature and provide body. The 2015 vintage was great and the wines in your tasting are in their prime and ready to be enjoyed.
