Registration for this top-end Napa producer is insufficient for us to host the event at the St Paul’s venue. Therefore, we decided to change the venue and format of the event. Attendance will be limited to 20 participants in a sit-down setting. You will have some light food served with the featured wines. Following the tasting, a buffet-style dinner will be available and you will enjoy a dinner-sized pour of another wine from the cellar.

We are moving the venue to the Fine Wine Reserve, on King St. West at Spadina Ave. (439 King St W, Toronto, ON M5V 1K4). The same time so 6:00 to 6:30.

We are currently full but may have some cancellations.

If you would like to be added to our waitlist please send us an email to services@winetasters.ca.

About Clos Pegase

Founded by Jan Shrem, Clos Pegase produces high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon wines in a distinctive terroir-focused manner. The estate is world renowned for its wine & art. The majority of the winery’s plots are nestled in the foothills of Mount St Helena, just outside of Calistoga. Across four parcels, the 450-acre estate (410 acres in the Napa Valley, with some in distinct microclimates). It contains rugged land with some soils possessing an alluvial fan spilling out from the Palisades Mountains. All plots grow world-class grapes, with each block having the best clone to match the soil type. Clos Pegase has farmed these sites for four decades with a true sense of place.

Marquee Wines at the Event

The Hommage Cabernet Sauvignon is the Flagship wine of Clos Pegase according to Wine Maker- Robin Akhurst. You will tantalize your palate as you experience several of the years ranging from 2001-20014!

The Hommage wines can be described as bursting with flavour, “Dark red in the glass. Some tasting notes include exuding with ripe blackberry, black cherries, earthy tobacco, and notes of cassis. On the palate, the black fruits linger and mix with dried herbs and toasted oak surrounded by strong, persistent tannins and notes of dark chocolate.” For additional detail see your Tasting Sheet providing evening of.

The price at the winery is USD$80 for the 2021 vintage. Tonight we showcase much older vintages with incredible value- not to be missed!

The 2006 Tenma Vineyard the winery describes as “This single block wine opens with warm aromas of licorice, blackberry jam, spiced leather, and juicy dark fruits. Smooth across the palate, this wine shows mouthwatering acidity. Its fruit flavours lean more dark than red, and lingering flavours of chocolate-covered cherry, tart currant, and luscious tannins are very well balanced.”

The price at the winery is USD$120 for the 2021 vintage.

Jancis Robinson Description of this Line Up

Vintage notes from Jancis Robinson (British Wine Critic and Journalist) describe some of the years in your lineup as:

  • 2001 most ripening evenly, expect some of the longest-lived of the decade in Napa Valley
  • Another great year. 2003 had a reduced crop leaving full-fruit-flavours
  • 2004 was a cool spring and hot summer with an early harvest and well-developed sugars.
  • 2005 red wines have aged well with a long hang time.
  • The 2014 drought made itself felt in Napa. Still, there was plenty of ripeness and flavours, and there was much positivity across the region for this year, as well as its quality potential from the smaller berries with concentrated flavours.

Food Pairing:

Serve a bottle of Clos Pegase to your guests with a prime rib or lamb in a sauce with reduction, and soon they will feel like family. They will bask in your hosting delights of a memorable experience, including exceptional conversation, food, and wine. This combination creates memories for life!
